영산재(靈山齋)란...
영산재(靈山齋)
봉원사(奉元寺)에서는 대한민국 중요 무형문화재 제
50호(大韓民國 重要 無形文化財 第50號) 영산재
보존회(靈山齋 保存會) 주최(主催)로 세계 평화(世
界 平和) 및 남북통일(南北統一)을 기원(祈願)하
기 위하여 영산재(靈山齋)를 봉행(奉行)하고 있다.
영산재(靈山齋)란 석가모니(釋迦牟尼) 부처님께서
영취산(靈鷲山)에서 법화경(法華經)을 설(設)하시
는 도량을 시공을 초월하여 본 도량으로 오롯이 옮
기고, 영산회상의 제불보살님께 공양을 올리는 의식
이다. 그리하여 살아있는 사람과 죽은 사람이 다함
께 진리(眞理)를 깨달아 이고득락(離苦得樂)의 경
지(境地)에 이르게 하는 의의(意義)가 있다.
그러므로 영산재(靈山齋)는 공연(公演)이 아닌 장
엄(莊嚴)한 불교의식(佛敎儀式)임을 인식해야 한
다. 즉, 삶과 죽음으로 갈라진 우리 모두가 불법(佛 revered as a truly important Buddhist ritual, not as
法)가운데 하나가 되어 다시만날 것을 기원(祈願)
하며, 부처님 전(前)에 행(行)하는 최대 최고(最大 for the unity of the living and the deceased in the
最高)의 장엄(莊嚴)한 불교의식(佛敎儀式)이다.

TheYeongsanjaeRitual
As preserver/transmitter of The Yeongsanjae Ritual
(Rep. of Korea Important Intangible Cultural
Property No. 50), Bongweonsa Temple's
Yeongsanjae Preservation Association conducts
regular performances for world peace and national
reunification.
The Yeongsanjae Ritual is a symbolic reenactment
of the historical Buddha Sakyamuni's delivery of the
Lotus Sutra on Mt. Grdhrakuta some 2,600 years
ago, in which offerings are made to the Buddha and
Bodhisattvas in attendance. The ceremony is held in
hopes of leading both the living and the departed
into the joy of enlightenment and perpetual peace.
Consequently, The Yeongsanjae Ritual should be
simply a 'performance.' It is a ceremony that prays
Dharma throughout the universes, and it is
Buddhism's most magnificent and impressive
Buddhist ritual passed down through the ages.
